The scene opens in an undisclosed location as the camera is set up in a dark room it is as if the world has completely gone silent as we hear nothing. The sudden sound of a door opening rushes through the room as the lights come on Jason is revealed. The environment around us is an old building with an old wrestling ring in the center of the room. He begins walking in to the room but as he does without any hesitation he begins to speak.
“I know you’re asking yourself what the hell is he doing here well it’s pretty simple I am here because things for me have to change I need to get back to who I am. I used to show up here every morning at 6 a.m. then go to school then go to work then repeat it over again. I became one of the best students to come out of this school and that is not me being cocky. I know it may come off that way but I have been hearing Night Hawk tell me over and over go back to your roots. I never thought of it truthfully until last week something just clicked inside my head. I finally realized what he meant and what he means that I have to get back to the work ethic that made me what I am.”
He walks up the old steps and steps through the ropes as he begins looking around the camera just watches on as the ring begins to creek. He simulates running the ropes not hitting them as to so they do not break as he stops and stands in the middle of the ring. He draws in a slow deep breath as he looks down at the canvas closing his eyes. He slowly raises his head and opens his eyes and locks them on the camera as he once again he speaks.
“I know for most of you it must feel like I am speaking in tongues but the truth is yes I am part of one of the best tag teams in the world but on my own who am I? I feel like I claim to be one of the best in the world but more often than not I am the one walking out on the losing end. I have made a vow within myself that from this point forward win or lose I will prove how great I can be. I am going back to my roots I am going back to the work ethic my very own parents instilled in me. I can promise everyone that is watching this and everyone I face from bell to bell there will be none other as intense.”
The building seems to hold a lot of memories for him as he takes a moment as he just looks around taking it all in as a coming home experience. He seems to be in a trance as he closes his eyes again staying completely still it’s as if he can hear it in his head. He draws in a deep breath his eyes still closed he seems to be trying to compose himself with what to say next. He slowly opens his eyes and turns his head as his eyes lock with the camera he speaks.
“Joey Harris a name I am not to familiar with but I know who you are and where you come from but it seems like your trying to make waves. I can understand that though we have all been in your position before at one time or another but you’re up against me. I look at you as the young man coming in trying to find his spot well I have found my spot and I will go to war to keep it. I have been in more big match situations around here I have titles and now you have run across me at the wrong time. I am not looking just to beat you but I am looking to make a statement while doing it. I am going to make you famous Joey but not in the way you would like to think.”
He stops for a moment as he does he once again lowers his head and closes his eyes as he lets the power of this place flow through him. He draws in a deep breath as he does he slowly lets it out leaving his eyes closed so the outside world cannot disturb him. The camera zooms in and watches on as he is standing completely still yet he seems to be at peace. He slowly opens his eyes and locks them with the camera as he does a intense calm is on his face he speaks.
“I truly hope you have some idea of what is going to be standing across the ring from you because the way you talk you truly have no clue. I am not here to threathen you I am not here to end your career but you better believe if given the chance I will dump you on your head. I am very verse in any style you could try to throw at me don’t think just because your new around here I am going to see something different. I have been trained for years just like you have but the difference is when that bell rings I can adapt very well and will have no problem doing it. I am going to make an example out of you and when you break it down and get in to it there is nothing you can do about it. I will show you just like I will show the entire wrestling word why they call me the Phenom.”
He takes another moment as he seems to be done he sticks around and once again looks around the building with a sense of pride. He walks over and steps through the ropes and stands on the apron looking around he a moment he jumps down to the floor. He begins walking away from the camera as it just continues to watch on he hits an old heavy bag. He walks over to the door as he stops and turns taking one more look around he walks out hitting the lights as the scene fades to black.

= Until the Day I Die =
My body was weary, and my head was throbbing and spinning from a late night of binge drinking. I've never been one to drink away my problems, but circumstances change, and between my emotional visit to my father's grave and finding out I have a daughter somewhere in the world, now seemed as good a time as any to start. I kicked back on my couch, the tattered legs of my denim jeans propped comfortably on my the table as bring my iPad into my lap. Everybody has been talking lately about the big climate shift, the "opportunity" laid out for the PWX roster, and apparently one man in particular had made some interesting comments.
“Joey Harris- a name I am not too familiar with, but I know who you are and where you come from... but it seems like you're trying to make waves."
I watched Jason's shoot from my iPad- I've made it a habit to keep myself educated on my fellow competitors in this tournament, as I'm still not too familiar with many members of the PWX roster. Some of the shit this guy says is absolutely ridiculous! I find myself chuckling under my breath at his words, which lack true confidence and resolve. To believe that Jason Aries has any chance at winning this tournament is as ridiculous as believing the theory of creation, and even if there a god in heaven, he would be completely powerless to save Jason Aries from the humiliation he suffer tomorrow night.
Sighing to myself- equal parts exhaustion and frustration- I switch programs on my iPad, as I prepare to document my opinions on the issue. Suffice it to say, I am almost disappointed in Jason's lack of passion as he approaches what is likely the most important match he will be involved in for a long, long time. Holding my iPad a safe distance from my face, I press the red button to beginning recording.
"With just one day left separating me from my next match in the PWX Opportunity Knocks tournament, I'm sure everybody has noticed just how quiet your Real World Champion has been lately. Truth is, I've been keeping my ear to the ground, and in doing so I find that I have heard an awful lot of talk from an awful lot of people. Everybody talks, everybody talks...everybody talks too much. Last week, my opponent Assassin thought he would spit some venom my way, but just as I promised, I made him choke on those words. That dumb son of a bitch thought he had a snowball of a chance at actually beating me, but Joey Harris came down on him like an avalanche! Let's face it- Nobody expected me to take that match seriously! I've gotten a lot of dirty looks for the antics I pulled before and even during my match. Yes, I made some questionable actions, but it's only fair to admit that I may have had a few too many drinks before my match. Honestly, who the fuck is Coal Chamber? I had never heard that song in my life before last week. And, okay, I may have slipped Ricky a mickey, because suddenly that idiot became my biggest fan. Honestly, though, the result of my match last week was never in question, as is the case with Jason Aries tomorrow night."
I'm not a foolish man. I know of Jason Aries, and his partner, Nighthawk. These guys call themselves "Bad Company," but lately they've just been bad. Oh, that's good. I'm gonna use that!
"You may think you are "Bad Company," Jason Nighthawk, but really you're-..."
Well, I fucked that one up.
"I messed up. Let me just...okay, fuck it. Jason Aries, I caught wind of your promo just now- you knew I would, of course. Do you really think you are capable of getting inside my head, Aries? Kid, you're not quite big enough to go on that ride. Do you even listen to the things you say sometimes? You're 'not too familiar' with me, but you 'know who I am,' and 'where I come from?' Aries, you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground! You wanna make me famous, Jason Aries? Been there, done that, and I got the championships to prove it. I really doubt just how much you claim to know, about anything! You started things of saying you know people must be asking, 'What are you doing in this raggedy-ass wrestling ring, Jason Aries?' Guess what- nobody cares enough about Jason Aries to care. Did you know that?"
"Look, this is a problem with the way of the world today. Everybody wants to be a cowboy, but there are just not enough Indians. Jason Aries, you're not a player. You're not a threat. The only reason you made it past the first round is because Caleb Houston carried you in his scrawny-ass arms. You want to talk about opportunity? Caleb Houston has an opportunity..."
I have no real history with Caleb, but I remember his time in EWA well, and witnessed his brief career in PWO before his life spiraled out of control with his drug abuse. This kid has the talent to go, but he's a slave to his demons. Caleb Houston is weak, and that's he will never be a champion here in PWX.
"Kaelyn Divera has an opportunity..."
Then there's that bitch, Kaelyn. After the shit she pulled last week, kicking me away from the ring when I tried to help Roxxie in her match, she deserves to have her ass handed to her. She may be one crazy bitch, but I fully intend to crack her skull again, the way Krazy Konway did all those years ago. I don't care what Roxxie has to say. Speaking of...
"The new PWX Hybrid Champion, Roxxie Roberts, has an opportunity...that's right, Darin Zion. You really thought you had the world on a string, hanging from your fingers, but how did it feel when Roxxie and I cut those strings last week? My lovely lady friend embarrassed you, Darin Zion, and now she- no, Natural Selection- is the PWX Hybrid Champion, and after tomorrow night...we have the biggest opportunity of them all, because I will beat Jason Aries, and be one step closer to becoming the new PWX World Heavyweight Champion. Aries- mark my words, kid...you won't be making anybody famous tomorrow night. You like to say you are "Bad Company," but really, you're just plain bad!"
Nailed it!
"The truth is, kid, I have no idea why anybody in their right mind would ever call you 'The Phenom.' Tomorrow night, why don't you do your best to show me? I might be the most you can do, after I rip your throat out. Call yourself whatever you want, Aries, because in two weeks, I will be calling myself 'champion!'"
I pushed the button on the screen, ending the recording. It wasn't my best; obviously, my mind is elsewhere right now. All this shit going on with Roxxie, and Elza, and Stone...fucking Adam Stone. That man is a fucking parasite who has leeched off just about every top star he has ever come across, and he took it personal by getting in between Rox and me. He stole Roxxie and Cameron from me, and then he took it further by kidnapping Elza and adopting her out. He tried to ruin my life, and with the first chance I get, I will ruin him.
"Joey?" I glance up; Roxxie had just walked in, arms full of groceries. "What are you doing?"
"I just filmed a shoot on Jason Aries!" I tried to seem more excited than I am, but Roxxie knew how stressed out I have been. Still, she realizes how important these next few matches are for us- after all, she will have her hands full with her aunt Kaelyn, and that tool, JT Midas. I hate that fucker. Talk about parasites... "Have a seat and watch the fun!"
I opened up my videos tab, making sure everything was ready to be watched. Except, I noticed something...
"What the fuck?"
Apparently, in my haste to begin recording, I forgot one very important step- reversing the camera.
God dammit.
