Our roaming reporter Scott Cooper caught up with the reigning Pro Wrestling X Heavyweight Champion Troy Stone.
Let's take you now to that interview!
Let's start from the beginning... Where are you from?
Disneyland, USA. Which for those geographically challenged people, that's Orlando Florida. Best place on the East Coast by far.
When did you first break into the pro wrestling business?
OK so it was right after I graduated from wrestling and everything right? So my trainer, who had these connections all over the state was like "hey Troy you should check out this one place called Florida Wrestling Elite. They're looking for guys that are willing to wrestle and help clean up after the shows are done." And sure the pay sucked. I only got paid like fifty dollars a match but at the time, I just wanted to start somewhere I guess. So yeah I went there for like a year, got my ass kicked, cleaned up, got paid little but that's how it happened. Definitely wasn't the Troy Stone I am now back then.
How did you get in the business?
See the thing is I've always been a wrestling fan right so I would always watch it on TV and look at all these abnormally large dudes wrestling in spandex. So one day, I think i was twelve and my dad took me and my kid brother, Liam, to a local show and it would so cool to me when i was twelve I was like "it would be cool to do that one day." Fast forward to high school and I quickly came to the conclusion that Troy Stone didn't want to do 9-5 jobs ever. So one day i saw a flyer for a new wrestling dojo like right around the block from where I lived then I thought hey "I'll be a wrestler." My family thought I was buffing. My sister Cindy was like "that's such a waste of thing" but I did it anyways. So after high school I joined the school and within two years Troy Stone became a wrestler.
Have you ever had a gimmick? If so, what?
Nah. I don't need a gimmick because I don't really need to be anything that I'm not ok? Thing is I don't need to do all of that to show the dweebs that I am damn good or that I'm the COOLEST and SEXIEST man in the world. I just steal the show, every night, like I always do. That's how I get my point across. Not by some goofy facade but just being me, which is a really good thing to be.
Where do you currently compete?
Pro Wrestling X, which I am currently, as of five days, the NEW PWX World Heavyweight Champion. FYI big deal.
Who would you like to compete against that you haven't had the chance to face yet?
A few guys and they know who they are. Blake Jones especially because that's probably the one person in this business that I treat like he's my brother. Dude brings it every time he wrestles and I would love it one day if somehow we faced. Of course I would win but I would love it. Other than that, Abigail Lindsay from Global Division Wrestling because that girl is smart as a whip and it would be a challenge to face someone that intelligent.
What's your favorite entrance theme?
Easy. My theme. Shooting Star by Black Stone Cherry. Personally fits me because well I am a star. But that's obvious.
Who are you currently feuding with?
Ha I guess everyone in PWX huh? Haha no seriously not many people like me over there because I just so happen to remind every dweeb how good I am or the way I do business and they don't really like that. They don't like how me and my unit the House of Stone, is basically the kings and queens of PWX but whatevs I' the World champ now which means everyone is going to want a piece of me. Comes with the territory.
Who are some of your closest friends in the business?
Hmm I thought in wrestling you couldn't have friends huh? Ha nah but yeah I don't have that many but I have the right amount of close friends. Good people that aren't dweebs. So Blake Jones like I mentioned, Blyss Lockhart, David Wilson, Tiami Tyler, my bodyguard Bruce Bowen. My fav twins in the world Candice and Carissa Diamond. Had to mention them of course they would verbally kill me haha. I know I'm forgetting more but that's off the top of my head.
On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate the competition?
In PWX? 7.5. In four months of being in the company, I've become the Evolution Champion of the Galaxy, I just won the World grand Prix, their annual tournament and I've won the World title. In four months. It's been that fast and yeah I've faced so really tough guys in that span but I've mainly got past all of them because no one is quite frankly as physically and mentally gifted as Troy Stone. I've beaten everyone the PWX dweebs have said is the best.
How do you keep yourself in great ring shape?
Cardio. Cardio. Cardio! All day, everyday. Everyday I'm either doing that or pumping iron. I just can't allow myself to be included in the 40% of Americans that are obese. So I'm always making sure that Troy Stone is looking his best and continue being the COOLEST and SEXIEST.
If someone handed you a million dollars what would you do with it?
Ha that's a grand question. Honestly I probably would give some to my parents and then probably my siblings mainly because they would beg me. With the rest of the money? Send it all on my babe Ophelia Morganti and give her the nice things in life that she deserves. Then I would spend some on myself and then save it. I'm not like those dweebs that just blow money. Nah.
How well do you get along with the owner of the company?
That's a funny question because right now PWX the two owners are in this neverending power struggle. Darin Zion and Jessica Harmony are just throwing their power around and it's madness. I'm cool with both as long as they give me my spotlight and they don't interfere with me stealing the show and doing my thing every time I'm peachy.
What's your favorite move in the ring?I have tons of moves that i love doing. I would say no one does a dropkick as great as me. I would argue no one does the Brainbuster, or as I call it the Stone Skull Drop, better than me. My personal fav is the TombSTONE(pun intended.) It's my finisher. The finale to whoever I'm facing. Basically it's a Belly to Back Piledriver. and when i hit it, it's over for my opponents. True story.
If you had to be a Face or a Heel for the rest of your career which would it be?
Eh I don't believe in that terminology like all these dweebs do. Face, heel, whatevs. For all of my career, fans haven't liked me because I speak my mind(thanks First Amendment) and I talk about how good I am and then prove it. So like I said before, I just like being me and whether category these dweebs put it under it doesn't matter. I'm just me.
True or False: Men and Women should compete in separate divisions.
False. I know a lot of females that are better than most men in the ring. My babe Ophelia comes to mind. It's a different time and age and right now. Equality is around when say like 80 years ago it wasn't and as long as we live in America and they don't shutdown our freedom too, I say why not?
What do you like about being a professional wrestler the most?
Stealing the show and outworking everyone else. Going in that ring is like my playground right and I get to showcase just how good I am playing on that playground. Nothing's better than that. Nothing's better than going out to the ring and knowing that most likely the person across from me can't beat me. It's a challenge to say above the rest but i do it really well while looking good.
What does the future hold for you?
Same as the present and that's Troy Stone continuing to build his legacy. I wanna rule wrestling man. See ruling something is a real accomplishment. Something you can boast about. That's what I want to do and I got everything I need to do it. So my future is golden really ha.
How can fans get in touch with you?
For all of you dweebs that still don't understand how that internet thing works in 2013, I' on Twitter under @troystone6. Don't mind the imposters, that's the real one.
When will we see you in action next?
In two days in Pro Wrestling X. I won't be wrestling but instead I'll be hosting a party for myself in honor of my great World Title victory last week. So yeah I advise all of you to tune in Wednesday to see it because it's going to be massive.
