Punk will not be back on ROH TV or any show with distribution for at least a year, or has everyone forgot the no compete clause of every main roster wrestler that has made the company money? Sorry guys it isnt chris hero and AJ Styles.... yet. Also Punk could maybe quit after this

Yeah but that wont change the clause in his contract, its not about the character or copyright its a way for WWE to let all their influence on a top guy cool off before he goes and works for somewhere else with all the momentum in the world from WWE. Hence why nobody has ever had a return to the indys the way Hero has had until now, and thats because he is popular no matter what but its also because he was developmental, Punk is the longest reigning WWE champion of all time (WWF doesnt count, well it does but you know what I mean) if they let people like that walk in and walk out of the company willy nilly people will start going elsewhere for better paychecks again

Also WWE owns 2 live copyrights to the CM Punk name, the reason he got to keep it was thanks to Paul Heyman trying to do anything he could in the tradition of ECW during their joke of a relaunch

That ECW relaunch was particularly painful for us traditional ECW lovers.
God I hate Vince McMahon and the fact that he is systematically torturing and murdering the sport I love.

It hurts to see what he is doing now compared to what he did, all the way up to one night only 2005 McMahon never pulled a damn thing on ECW except the champ vs champ match on Smackdown but even Vince has admitted to regretting that decision. I dunno where the hell the ECW revival thing came from. I like to think it was some misguided idea of keeping the blood and guts fans happy when the PG era came in and then it unfortunately was so boring it failed

I'll admit that I'm a fan of blood and guts. It takes a lot (A LOT) of balls to do that shit. That being said, Vince totally missed the point on ECW.
Blood and guts wasn't the appeal, it certainly didn't hurt, but quality wrestling. It's just like guys think Philly fans just shit on everything. No, we just shit on everyone putting in a half assed effort. But alas, Vince stopped caring what wrestling fans thought a long time ago. Dick.

If Vince had half a brain he would realise he does have competition, he always made it his point that he wanted the WWE to compete internationally and yet they are happy enough with America. All those little did you know WWE is the highest rated, or longest running or most watched or whatever the fuck they wanna brag about that week is all bullshit. There are shows in the UK that have 30 years on monday night raw as a non stop never been cancelled regular as clockwork TV show. Vince has gotten lazy is all, he lost sight of the bigger picture in his old age and triple H's eyes are to small to see past his nose to see anything

CM Punk owns the copyright to his name, much the same way Van Dam did. Part of the heat he had early on was he wouldnt sign the rights over to WWE. So he phesably could show up in another company with the name.
Technically, once his contact expires in the summer-he could pop up on TNA or ROH or whatever-unless his Non Compete extends beyond his contract end date (like its July 1st + 90 Days for example). Christian and Raven both had their contracts expire and showed up on TNA instantly. So it all depends on his contract. One thing I would assume is when he renegotiated before-he probably got alot of stuff in his favor.

Punk is a garunteed hall of famer at some point now, if he goes with it, they will also want to sell the shit out of his merchandise for as long as possible, Id say his no compete will be similar to morrisons which was lengthly from what I remember, but I thought anyone main event like punk would of had to sign the year long no compete clause that got lesnars ass kicked in his early years
