The program comes back with Shawn Lester, PWX’s resident backstage correspondent.
Shawn: Ladies and Gentlemen, my guest at this time is “The Pride of Brisbane” Brock Whitworth.
The camera pans to Brock who nods at the camera. He looks serious, but amiable nonetheless.
Shawn: Brock, first things first, we have to talk about 2 weeks ago where you pulled off a huge upset against longtime friend and PWX heavyweight contender Adam Stryker. How does getting a win like that so early in your PWX career affect you moving forward.
Brock: Well, you know Shawn, I have to give my respects to Adam here. He put up a hell of a fight and both of us refused to back down. Like you said, we’re good friends, and nothing will affect our relationship. Honestly, one slip-up by me and I would’ve been the one flat on my back. I’m happy to have a win against such a great competitor. I think that that match really establishes my skills here in PWX. I’m hoping that I’ll get some bigger looks in the future against the top talent here.
Shawn: Last week we saw you talking to the CWO, a faction that is known for having very few friends in this business. You guys seem to get along, why do you think that is?
Brock: The CWO and I have very similar interests when it comes to this company. Although we approach things two different ways, we have a common goal and that’s what drives us forward. I’m pleased to be working with them.
Shawn: You said that you and the CWO have “similar interests in the company”. Care to elaborate on that?
Brock chuckles, shaking his head.
Brock: Nothing yet Shawn. We know what we want to do, and we’re working towards it. It’ll take time, but we have the drive and quality ideas to do what we want.
Shawn looks down at his notes, looking to move forward.
Shawn: Speaking of last week, it was your first Supercard. Although you weren’t out there with the fans, it had to leave quite the impression on you, yes?
Brock: Of course, you know I’m still so young in this business so I’m always absorbing everything I can. I thought that Initiation was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen as a whole with a lot of good wins by great competitors.
Shawn: Who would you say left the biggest mark on you after Initiation?
Brock: Darin Zion. His match was…
Voice: Don’t be talking shit Brock!
Darin Zion comes into view, staring down Brock.
Darin: Well a big congratulations there, newbie. So you beat Adam Stryker, I mean, who hasn’t? You know what you don’t have?
Darin holds up the Hybrid title over Brock’s head.
Darin: This. And you never will. One win does not make you good, it doesn’t even make you notable. So just get used to seeing other’s at the top. You’ll be down there for a long time.
Brock looks down, smiling to himself. Shawn Lester has moved back, trying to remove himself from the two giants.
Brock: That’s cute mate, you know that? Adam Stryker was closer to the World Title than you could ever hope to be Darin. And for your sake, you should stop talking about Adam.
Darin: Oh really, and what do you suppose you’re going to do about it there ‘mate’?
Brock quickly gets in Darin’s face.
Brock: You don’t even want to know, Darin. I suggest you leave before I make you regret opening your big mouth.
Darin returns Brock’s stare, with a tinge of happiness crossing his face.
Darin: I have better things to worry about Brock. I’m the PWX Hybrid champion! I don’t need to be wasting my time on someone so insignificant.
Darin gives Brock one last look of disgust before leaving. Brock, obviously angry, turns and begins to walk away.
Shawn: One last question Brock?
Brock: This interview is over.
With that, Brock walks off, disappearing around a corner. Shawn Lester is left, confused.
Shawn: And with that, we’ll send it back to you guys.
