Personal History: Dazz grew up on the streets of Oakland as a conflicted young black teenager. He got involved with gangs, but still maintained a higher-than-3.0 Grade Point Average, and was a second team All American High School Wrestler. After graduating from high school, he was offered quite a few wrestling scholarships to decent colleges, but none locally, and refused to leave his friends and family in the Bay Area. So without the "distraction" of high school and sports, Dazz fell full time into a life of gang activity.
Dazz was shot in the shoulder when he was 19. He was abandoned by his gang in fear of the police, left in an alley in East Oakland. This is where John Mosley, a local retired boxing trainer and former independent professional wrestler found him as he was walking by. Malfoy immediately phoned for help, and rode with Dazz to the hospital and stayed there with him until he was out of the surgery to remove the bullet from his shoulder and came around. When he left, seeing the athletic build of Dazz, but not knowing his background, he left his contact information, and asked Dazz to get in touch with him when he was recovered.
When Dazz was released from the hospital, he had no where to go. Feeling abandoned by his fellow gang members the night he was shot, he refused to seek them out. So he found a pay phone, called Mosley, who invited him to the 16th Street Gym in East Oakland. Dazz, weary of that area, as it was his former gang's territory, finally showed up at his door one day. Mosley took him in and let him stay in one of the rooms of his apartment above the gym, and upon learning of Dazz's amateur wrestling background, began training him. At the age of 20, Dazz was once again offered a wrestling scholarship - this time at Skyline community college, and he accepted it. He went for a year, won the state championship in his division, all the while training to be a professional wrestler with Mosley, as well as learning boxing and striking skills.
Mosley passed away about a year after they met, and to Dazz's surprise, learned that the 16th St. Gym had been left to Dazz in his will.
Dazz, losing a man who he considered his mentor, once again felt lost, and returned to gang life until 6 months later, he was arrested on aggrevated assault charges. He pleaded down to a misdemeanor and served six months. Upon his release, he returned to the 16th Street Gym to find a letter from a wrestling promoter on the east coast. Dazz was flown to North Carolina, which was the headquarters of the American Championship Wrestling Federation. He signed a contract, and began his professional wrestling career.
Wrestling History: 29 years old now, Dazz has been professionally wrestling since just before his 22nd birthday. In ACWF, Dazz won the Intercontinental title within two months, and within a year had become the ACWF Champion. Financially hard times fell on the promotion however, and it closed with Dazz still holding the title. He was then recruited to the Southern States Wrestling Federation, in which he battled with the arrogant group of wrestlers known as "The Stud Stable," which was managed by Preston Everett Presley, III. Dazz earned the Television Title there, until SSWF's ownership decided to get out of the wrestling business.
This was when Presley, commonly known as "PEP," decided to use his fortune to open California Championship Wrestling. Although PEP and his group of arrogant wrestlers had trouble with Dazz in SSWF, he also saw the marketability of the young wrestler, and offered him a contract with the San Francisco based promotion. Dazz, having the opportunity to move back home to the Bay Area, begrudgingly accepted PEP's offer, and from there, made PEP's life a living hell.
There, Dazz was forced to team with the man who would prove to be his career-long rival, "The Natural" Tommy Gunn, and the team of bitter enemies managed, despite their clashing egos, to win the Tag Team title tournament when the title was vacant. The feud between Gunn and Dazz drew national attention, making for syndication nationally, and enabled CCW to become a national promotion. The name was changed to Championship Caliber Wrestling. Dazz, after overcoming obstacle after obstacle, finally got his championship match while Gunn held the title, and in a historic match, won the CCW Championship.
CCW shut down after a very long run, and Dazz dabbled around in various promotions, such as the AWC and GPW just to name a couple. He eventually walked away from the business for a while, and went into the music industry, opening his own record label.
Dazz returned to the wrestling scene for one night last year in CCW's short lived return attempt under new management, where he was the special referee for the Championship Match that was filled with controversey. Dazz was not seen again in a wrestling promotion until just a few months ago, where he appeared in Florida State Wrestling, hunting down Tommy Gunn. Upon the closure of FSW, Dazz returned to CCW for a short stint before the promotion closed for good.
After years out of the spotlight, the returned to professional wrestling when signing with Pro Wrestling X, where he captured both the Next Generation championship, as well as the PWX Championship. However, two weeks following his victory in which he won the PWX Title from Dylan Greenwood, Dazz vacated the belt and walked away from the company, claiming he had nothing left to prove after defeating the man many thought couldn’t be beaten. He then retired to focus on the running of The 16th Street Gym, where underprivileged youth were able to come learn various fighting/self defense disciplines, but more importantly, to give them somewhere safe to be rather than hanging out on the dangerous streets of East Oakland.
He has once again come out of retirement, originally for what was supposed to be a one time appearance when John Pariah found a clause in his old contract allowing him to recall the wrestler, forcing him to face John Ojeda. Following the match, Dazz decided to stay, and has formed a powerful faction in PWX along with “The Main Attraction” Tyler Boyd and Kirsta Lewis.
